The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) has opined against federal online poker corroboration. It is also said to have informed the Congress that individual states should adopt their own laws on this matter. In its arguments written by a couple of lawmakers, NCSL has cited the Department of Justice’s ruling in December which stated that Federal Wire Act of 1961 apply only to sports betting. NCSL feels that the rule will permit individual states to come up with their own laws regarding online gambling games such as poker.

In a letter the representatives of Alabama and Hawaii, have stated that the NSCL believes that the Federal Government needs to respect the verdict of the Justice Department and it will combat any efforts undertaken by Congress to block state authority over internet gaming. NCSL once again re-affirmed themselves in the letter believing that each individual state need to take control over their own gambling laws and adopt online gambling policies which they deem fit. The letter further added that states for long have been able to choose whether any other form of gambling should be legal or not and have been pretty successful in its regulation.

It is not only NCSL which have this belief, but many state run lotteries are also opposed to federal law regarding online gambling. However, several top casino companies are fully behind any federal plan to renovate gambling laws across America and the American Gaming Association is also behind federal law.

The names for the forthcoming WPT (World Poker Tour) Bay 101 Shooting Stars championship has been declared – and it looks like a stellar-packed list.

Already affirmed for this year’s $ 9500 + $ 500 buy-in championship are Alan Sternberg, the reigning champion, as well as players like Liv Boeree, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Jonathan Duhamel, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Barry Greenstein, David Williams and Jason Mercier.

If these 9 poker players are not enough to live up to your expectations that this will probably be the most telling line-up you will check all year long, then see some of the other huge poker pros called for.

What do you think about Phil Hellmuth? Or even Antonio Esfandiari? Well, there is Todd Brunson, Tony G, Fabrice Soulier, Eugene Katchalov, , Phil Laak, Jennifer Tilly JC Tran, , Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Ben Lamb, Erick Lindgren, Sam Stein, Chris Moorman, Men Nguyen, Will ‘The Thrill’ Failla, Erik Seidel, Scott Seiver, Michael Mizrachi and Mike Sexton and– to name some of them.

All those already listed will have a $ 5000 bounty on their heads when the play starts at the Bay 101 Casino. It will start on 5th March (Monday) and will finish on 9th March (Friday).

On the whole, forty-nine players in the field will be of $ 5000 to the poker player who kicks them out, and also includes pros like David ‘Chino’ Rheem Allen Bari, Freddy Deeb, Matt Giannetti, Andy Frankenberger, Jennifer Harman, John Juanda, Maria Ho, Dwyte Pilgrim and Kathy Liebert.

There is a $ 10000 bonus up for catches for the chip leaders after Day 1A and Day 1B. Therefore, there much more on offer; even for those players who do not earn the money.

Sternberg grabbed $ 1039000 for pulling down the event in San Jose, last March, after beating another American poker player Steven Kelly in their heads-up combat.

David Williams is a poker player that plays the game professionally, but at the same time he is also known as a good player of Magic: The Gathering.

His biggest moment in poker was at the World Series of Poker in 2004, when he managed to get to participate thanks to a win at a online poker website. He got to the main event finals and eventually won the second place, Raymer Greg being in 1st. He won $3.5 million as a result. A few months later he also managed to take the 2nd spot at WPT Borgata Open, with a prize of $573,800.

The total winnings he managed to get at live tournaments were $7.9 million in 2010, out of which over $4.3 million came from the World Series events where he cashed in. The majority of the remaining money came from events from the World Poker Tour.

He also has one bracelet at the World Series, which was won in 2006, in a Seven card stud table, with a $1500 buy-in.

As for his participations at the World Poker Tour, he reached the final table for the second time in 2006 and he took home $280k after he finished in 4th place. After another few months he managed to reach the final table at the WPT again and once again he managed to take the 4th place. He managed to win the WPT World Championship in 2010, taking home $1.5 million and defeating Eric Baldwin.

After the WSOP 2004, Williams was a member of the Team Bodog, which he left in 2010. Right now he is a member of Team PokerStars and he is sponsored by them.

At WCOOP 2009, Williams won the 42nd Event, by defeating Alexander Kostritsyn.

He has a blog these days, where he write about his professional and personal life.
